About the Project:
This was as part of an internship with Fath Components GmbH in 2018. The CTO allowed me to take the initiative of leading this project both on the design front, and the negotiation and execution. I worked in collaboration with designers in China, part suppliers in Taiwan and Manufacturers in Germany to start mass manufacturing this part.
The Problem Statement:
The designed part was to cater to workers interacting with monitors on factory floors.

Research:
I observed people interacting with monitors on the factory floor and asked them questions on how they would like to interact with their monitors. I noted the important axis’ and incorporated that into my design.
I also conducted a market research to understand existing competing products and the markets they specifically catered to. I then tried to differentiate based on design and utility.
Individual Parts and Workflow:
The inner torque assembly component, sourced from third party in Taiwan
VESA Mount for monitors. To be screwed to the monitor.
Performed thickness analysis, draft analysis and rib formation to use plastic optimally and prevent any deformities in the product.
Prototype:
3D Printed the prototype on an Ultimaker
Final Product:
The final part was manufactured using plastic injection molding.
